The trouble with many compilations is that there’s often a fair few tracks that you just don’t want to listen to from the moment you pick it up.
This however is a compilation unlike most others; there are no big names here and no tired hits.
What is served up is a mix of fresh artists, each producing their very own, undeniably original sound.
Put together by Norwich based label 2600 Recordings, the idea of Home Entertainment is simple - to showcase some of the finest instrumental Hip-Hop the UK is producing today whilst taking in Post, Prog and Psych Rock influences and Electronic production.
Much of this is promising and at times mesmerising stuff, especially the cuts from the sublime Mr Cooper, the other worldly 3rd Party and the phenomenal, dance floor invading beats of Zilla. As a whole this compilation works well, each track follows on seamlessly from the one before, for once this seems to a compilation that is best listened to from start to finish.
So here are 15 songs by 15 underground artists that when listened to will expand your musical boundaries to the very limits and challenge the senses. By no means is this a record for everyone, some people just won’t see the appeal. But for those of you willing to hear something fresh, dive in and you will discover a track that will captivate you, just be patient.
This isn’t a record for every occasion, what it is however, is a record that might just be perfect for that moment when you want lie back and just be completely immersed in the music.
