Wallis Bird is here with her debut album - and an album of class is what it is.
The Irish singer/songwriter has emerged from the recording studios with an absolute cracker of an album. The imaginatively named Spoons contains songs from the peaceful and wonderful lyrical song of You Are Mine to the upbeat and chart worthy Country Bumpkin.
Wallis Bird is based out of three cities from three different countries. She is based in London, Dublin and Mannheim in Germany, but it’s her strong Irish accent and Irish background that seems to strongly influence the sound and lyrics of her music
Based in Germany has given her a big following in Germany that she has taken full advantage of this situation by touring Germany and getting her music across to the masses.
The sound of her voice with the folk music sound makes for a truly wonderful musical experience. The 11-track album lasts 52 minutes. It contains 11 brilliant tracks that make you feel both relaxed and energised in equal measures.
Counting to Sleep is the first track off the album and it certainly is a cracker of a track which sums up the whole feel to the album. It feels relaxed but upbeat and puts across a contrast of different emotions, but all these emotions make you want to listen to the album repeatedly. With every listen you learn more and more about the album and it makes you want to press the repeat button without hesitation.
This album is definitely worth spending your hard earned cash and you will find it eating up more and more of your music time. This is not a bad thing though. Wallis Bird, on reflection of the album, is going to be a star. This album is going to set her career alight.
