Since the success she acquired from joining Zero 7 on the track Home, Tina Dico is back on the scene showing off her singing/song-writing/producing talents.
Anyone jealous?
Count to Ten is the forth studio album from Denmark’s ‘Singer of the Year 2006’ and a brilliant place to start if you haven’t heard anything from her before.
But getting this far hasn’t been easy. Failed contracts and loose ends have set Dico back in success, but sheer determination has proved that hard work pays off as this is easily her best work to date.
All ten tracks on the album are equally distinctive with the album track Count to Ten setting the optimistic trend with the lyrics; “Sometimes, the fastest way to get there is to go slow.”
Other tracks to keep on your radar are; On The Run, Night Cab and Cruel To The Sensitive Kind. These tracks all seem to include a Donovan and/or Bob Dylanesque sound but all incorporating her diverse yet soothing voice.
Each track breathes a sense that this is a musical scrapbook of what her experiences have thrown at her, from living in Demark to starting a life in London embarking on a new reflection for her work.
Underneath it all, this is both a clever and powerful album that shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s incredibly well written and hard not to fall in love with. It’s certainly one that won’t be put down for a while.
