Pouring rain and blustering winds couldn't stop the fans of The Feeling packing out Nottingham’s Rock City on a Monday night.
You get just about everything you expect when going to see the five-piece Brit Pop band hailing from Sussex/London. The stage was completely packed out with mirror balls, pianos and neon signs that fuelled the excitement previous to the electric entrance.
Gracing the stage with their quirky haircuts, slightly equestrian apparel and perfectly timed harmonies, The Feeling put every single ounce of their eccentric cheesy camp feel into their live performance. Think bright lights, glitter, plenty of singing and one big happy set of fans.
With the new album Join With Us enjoying plenty of success, it was great to see their new electro pop influences haven't even had fan's battering an eyelid. Lead singer Dan Gillespie-Sells and the other members gave a thank you to the fans for sticking by them to which the crowd aptly rejoiced and roared on for more.
A brilliant mix between both the new and the old album kept the night running and was also accompanied by some fierce covers including Electric Dreams. Some of the tracks making the set list included Fill My Little World, Strange, Spare Me and their new to-be-released track Without You.
And these guys really know how to rock. Whipping out some brilliant piano skills from Ciaran Jeremiah, pounding drum beats from Paul Stewart and ripping bass riffs from Richard Jones there was no denying these guys are armed with bucketloads of talent. That’s not to forget Kevin Jeremiah’s duel guitar solos with Dan that on increased the level of decibels created by the screaming crowd.
The only letdowns of the evening were the rain (which made one too many smell like a damp dog) and the venues’ inability to cope with people over the age of 40. Seeing as there was such a diverse age range, Rock City literally scared some people with one woman shrieking, “I thought there would be a seat somewhere!” - No such chance.
Ultimately their winning combination of smart apparel, catchy Britpop accolades and pure award winning cheese defiantly made the night one to remember. |
