For anyone else, this may actually make you want to destroy everything you own. It’s catchy, unbelievably cheery, and eternally upbeat. How upbeat? Put it this way; they make Junior Senior and the Pointer Sisters look like depressives.
After the disco blast to start, it soon settles into a rhythm that loosely jangles around like Bryan Ferry’s take on Let’s Stick Together with added “Ahhh” and “Woo-Woo!” for good measure, before all hell breaks loose when the lyrics are added over the top.
Anyone looking for John Lennon-esque world-stopping wordsmithery should probably have gotten the hint to look elsewhere by now. Putting “Spacetroopers” and “Super-duper!” together is about as good as it gets, as the Danish sextet also name-check Major Tom, which one would easily link to their apparent love of David Bowie.
With Britain having something of a sweet tooth when it comes to sugary-pop delights, this could chart well, but possibly at another time of year rather than the dreary month of November. During the grey months, it could well sink without a trace.
That is, unless you hear the remixes available. Nightmoves and Radioclit transform this innocent childlike song into a dance banger. The former has a touch of Benny Benassi about it, whilst the latter’s beat almost hails such artists as M.I.A.
The dub version of Prince Language’s mix fares better than the standard cover, as the totally irrelevant guitar that was introduced is ditched in favour for the Mika-esque bass-groove.
