No Conversation: a sense of irony attached to the track title, as not a lot of talk has evoked from the workings of Boy Kill Boy.
Listening to this single, though, it’s impossible to understand why.
This track - the lead release from their soon-to-be second album, Stars and The Sea – falls rather blissfully on the ears. Imagine a sort of hybrid of Editors and Maximo Park, and you get the sound resounding from Chris Peck's impressive vocals.
But the comparables stop there. Boy Kill Boy’s volatile and original approach to song-writing is refreshing to see here in No Conversation - it sounds like nothing before it. Affluent in melody, the song carries through and is a pleasure to listen to. Whirring synths harmonise with Peck's easy-listening vocals, adding new-age to the number.
The four-piece Leytonstone outfit do sometimes suffer a tempestuous bout of knockings in reviews. It’s time to lay off and let these lads do the biz - because they can certainly do just that.
