The Cooper Temple Clause
Head

A bit late with this, but… shit! The Coopers split up, leaving a lot of people (myself included) quite gutted. And with this being the last song we’ll hear from them (unless they reform - but we can only dream), it’s a damn shame it ended like this.

In comparison to many of their other songs Head is quite weak, although the lyrics do contain cryptic nuances about the band’s state before the split (unless it’s just misinterpretation) that do make it worth hearing. Try and interpret them for yourself and see if you feel the same.

However, this is comparing Head to the heavier songs that we all enjoy. In terms of the more down-tempo Cooper stuff, it’s still pretty decent although it lacks really memorable parts and, while I may regret saying this later, the effort that seemed to go into all their previous work. This song highlights the final days of a very bored sounding group of lads about to go their separate ways in search of new horizons.

Let’s not muse on the bad things though. Remember the good songs they wrote and all the riffs that made you want to walk into traffic with a baseball bat and assault vehicles/passers by. And maybe, with a bit of luck, they will return if we beg them enough.
