Daughtry
Home

Former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry and his band are back with Home; the latest release from their self titled debut album.

Although there is no questioning the quality of Chris Daughtry’s voice, this track really is bland and the lovelorn lyrics are hugely cliché ridden.  The song has been well produced but there is the feeling that all of the trademarks of a typical American alt rock ballad, from the soaring chorus to the token string section, have been meticulously placed using a stopwatch.

As a result the track isn’t exactly bad and it is quite catchy but it’s just impossible to escape the feeling that you’ve heard the same thing hundreds of times before. It ticks all the right boxes for the alt rock genre but does absolutely nothing to stand out from the crowd.

The simplest way of describing this record is think Westlife meets Nickelback’s Far Away and you’ll be getting pretty close.

Housewives and the middle-aged trying to be rock and roll will love this but for anyone else with more discerning taste then there are far more accomplished and credible bands out there in a genre which is far from under subscribed.
