Bland but actually quite listenable.
First thing’s first, this is not another solo artist who has decided to became the next David Gray for the cool kids of today. Instead what we have here is a Manchester based 3-piece rock band who are looking to change what we perceive as ‘Manc-Rock’.
Sounding absolutely nothing like Oasis or the Happy Mondays, instead they are more like an American underground band and Silence and Sound from their December 2006 debut album Hearts and Stars shows just that.
It’s nothing to blow you away but does have promise. Instead of rushing to hear this I would instead recommend finding their live recording of Dark Halo, which demonstrates both simple but effective guitar playing and enjoyable vocals.
Well travelled front man David R Naylor is certainly the driving force of the group but combined with female bassist Sarit Black and Paul Williams on drums they provide a happy medium between early Pixies and Soundgarden. That’s exactly what this song is.
