Drumattic Twins
Broken Planet

This double A-side single from the breaks DJ production duo Drumattic Twins is ‘set for great success’ according to vast amounts of Internet buzz.

This single proves that Internet hype isn’t always spot-on.

Although the single release is Broken Planet, its sister tune Can’t Give You Up has much more personality, flavour and lyrics that make it bouncier and a far superior track.

The tracks project funky bursts off breakbeat and electro which is sure to get bodies on the dance floor and shapes flying. Broken Planet picks up pace and flashes of mixed sounds and then reaches an Arabic style solo before kicking into a dirty burst of electro free-for-all that make up the rest of the track.

It is an interesting collaboration of studio effects, considering that it isn’t predictable, and it progressively adapts to make almost every 5-8 seconds different. That is, until it reaches closing and it seems like Drumattic Twinsaren’t sure how to end it.

The downfall of the song is that although it grows in sound, it doesn’t seem to grow with energy. It isn’t necessarily repetitive but it does definitely sound it at points. With a little more work, it could have been an amazing track as it is. As it goes, though, it’s nothing overtly special.
