Feist
1234

Music has the power to lift your mood and brighten your day no matter what the weather.

This offering from female solo artist Feist certainly does that, and if the sun were to have actually shone at some point this summer, then this song would've been the perfect soundtrack to the season.

Summer (n) Warmest season of the year, between spring and autumn.  Just in case you’d forgotten what it was…

Leslie Feist is a Canadian singer-songwriter who is currently the newest face of the latest iPod advert. Her new release 1234, taken from her latest album The Reminder, is an uplifting track that introduces us to her hauntingly unique voice.

It’s a subtle sound, which starts off at little more than a whisper, but builds alongside the fantastic instrumental accompaniment that includes pianos, trumpets, violins and even banjos.

It’s quite an eclectic mix, but it works. Trumpet fanfares are replaced with intricate piano melodies whilst the steady rhythms of the banjo strum gently underneath.

The tracks opening aptly sounds like music from an advertisement, but thankfully the song has more substance than that, and rises gloriously into a rousing chorus.

Maybe her music can remind us all of what the summer was supposed to be like.
